Care Instructions

What is thermal shock?

Ceramic pieces can be susceptible to something called thermal shock which occurs when there is a sudden change in tempterature and can result in cracks. All Studio Beag functionalware is tested for thermal shock before it ever leaves the studio.

However, to keep your piece safe we recommend avoiding sudden temperature changes. Avoid adding ice to your mug before adding hot coffee and pre-warm mugs before making tea. In the very unlikely event that your piece cracks due to thermal shock, we will refund you for the item for up to 60 days after you placed your order.

Are pieces microwave/dishwasher safe?

Most of our ceramics are microwave and dishwasher safe! However, to keep your piece looking it’s best, we would recommend limiting time in the microwave and handwashing when you can. Long term, regular dishwasher use can cause colours to dull.

Items that contain gold/mother of pearl are not microwave safe and should not be put in the dishwasher as this will remove the gold/mother of pearl coating. These pieces should be gently hand-washed in cool, soapy water to keep them looking as purchased. All pieces that do not contain gold or mother of pearl are microwave and dishwasher safe but we would still recommend hand-washing and limiting time in the microwave or the colours may fade over time.

How do I know if pieces contain gold/mother of pearl?

Any pieces that contain gold/mother of pearl will clearly list this in the product description. If you’re unsure, just get in touch with us!

How do I know if pieces are food safe?

All pieces that are designed to be in contact with food (mugs, plates, bowls, dinner/serving ware) will be food safe. We ensure all ceramics are completely matured in the kiln and only use lead free glazes. Occassionaly we may offer an item at a reduced rate due to a fault which renders it not food safe but it could have other non-food related uses. In this case, this will always be made very clear in the item description.

Are all Studio Beag ceramics handmade?

Yes, all Studio Beag ceramics are 100% handmade by me (Nicole!) in my small studio in Waterford, Ireland.

What is a pre-order?

For some pieces, we have the option to pre-order the piece. This means that your piece will be made especially for you and will take approximately 4-5 weeks to be made and shipped out to you.

Oh no, SOLD OUT!

We are sorry to hear that! We sometimes restock items but usually, we only produce small batches of each piece. Keep up to date on restocks by following us on Instagram.

I want a custom design!

Studio Beag ceramics are my art so usually, I don’t accept custom design orders. However, if you’d like to get in touch with a custom idea and your vision aligns with mine, I’d be happy to discuss a custom order <3 .

Shipping

Do you ship internationally?

We currently ship to many locations across Europe and shipping costs vary by location. We hope to expand our shipping locations in the near future.

We currently ship to Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Poland and Portugal. We can also ship to Northern Ireland, please contact us about placing an order to Northern Ireland and we would be happy to assist you.

Where is my order?

Once you have placed an order, we will get to work prepping your order to ship within 3-5 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once your order has been shipped. Delivery times will vary depending on where you are located.

I placed another order before my first order had shipped, can I combine my shipping costs?

Of course! If you place a second (or third!) order before your first order has shipped, we will always combine all items into one box and refund you any overcharge on the shipping. Please allow up to 7 working days to receive the refunded shipping fees.

Returns

What if my order arrives damaged?

Although we take every care packing our ceramics to ensure they get to you safely, sometimes accidents happen! In the unlikely event that your order arrives damaged, please contact us at info@studiobeag.com. We will request an image of the damaged items and you will be issued with a replacement when possible or a refund. Please note that it may not always be possible to replace the item, and in this case you will always be refunded for your order.

Do you accept returns or refunds?

For personalised or pre-order items, we do not offer returns or refunds for change of mind as this piece is made especially for you. For all other items, you have 14 days from the date of purchase to request a return. You are liable for any shipping costs associated with returning your order. You are also responsible for returning the goods in perfect condition. This includes the safe packaging of the ceramics. We cannot offer refunds for items which are returned damaged due to improper packaging.

Wholesale

Studio Beag is a small batch studio and we do not offer any products for wholesale. The only options to purchase a Studio Beag piece are directly from me (Nicole!) through this website or in-person at a market.
